Hi! I’m Clay Telfer, and I love Customer Success.

I'm an award-winning Customer Success Executive who’s been building, scaling, and leading Customer Success teams at rapid-growth B2B SaaS startups for 13 years.

What does that look like? I’ve been a key player in 3 startup exits and I specialize in scaling quickly while slashing churn. I build powerful cultures of collaboration and personal development, and I've had the privilege of coaching dozens of Customer Success folks to new heights of excellence.

The strategies I’ve created have been successful across a wide variety of industries and economic conditions. Much of my career has involved building Customer Success functions from scratch, so I do it all – from designing long-term strategies and great customer experiences to hands-on work like writing playbooks and crafting elegant processes.

My passion doesn’t stop with customers, either! I love coaching and developing the next generation of Customer Success professionals and CSMs. There’s nothing like the satisfaction of watching someone turn into the CS expert they want to be! My mission is to deliver value, drive success on multiple fronts, and help others crush it with confidence in their CS careers.

In addition to my consulting work, I speak and present on Customer Success topics across the country.

I feel so lucky to have discovered my passion at an early age. I hope to keep building amazing CS departments for the rest of my career.

I’m a lifelong Californian, having grown up in the desert before getting my Bachelor’s from UC Santa Barbara – go Gauchos! I’ve been all over the world, including a year teaching English in Seoul, but I’ve called Los Angeles home for more than 15 years now. When I’m not proselytizing for Customer Success, I enjoy reading, muay thai, and desert adventures.
